Cerebral Attic

I know it's somewhere there-- the answer lies
within my cluttered brain, buried
beneath the latest specs for pentiums and pain-relief
jingles that surface now and then past
memories of lovers, recipes for stew, a ton of trash
I'll clean out next spring, but for now a chain
of free association beats a path all tortured twist
skirting facts and heaps of fiction, scent of truth
around each bend, doubling back without conviction
to start the search all over
again.
